Manglik Dosh Evaluator

Select the house occupied by Mars in your birth chart to evaluate Manglik Dosh.

What is Manglik Dosha (Mangal Dosh)?

Manglik Dosha — also called Mangal Dosh, Kuja Dosha or Bhom Dosha — is a condition in Vedic astrology that forms when Mars (Mangal) sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the birth chart. Mars is the planet of energy, aggression and passion, so when it occupies these sensitive houses it is said to add friction to marriage, temperament and partnership.

A person with this placement is commonly called a Manglik or Mangalik. The dosha is read from three reference points — the Lagna (ascendant), the Moon and Venus — which is why two people can both be 'Manglik' yet experience very different intensity.

How to check if you are Manglik by date of birth

To check Manglik Dosha you need your exact date, time and place of birth so the houses can be calculated correctly. Find the house Mars occupies counted from your ascendant (and ideally from the Moon and Venus too). If Mars falls in house 1, 4, 7, 8 or 12, Manglik Dosha is present.

Anshik (partial) vs full Manglik

Not every Manglik placement is equal. Mars in the 1st or 7th house is considered stronger, while Mars in the 12th or 4th is often Anshik (partial) Manglik with milder effects. The dosha also weakens with age and is widely believed to reduce significantly after 28 years.

Manglik Dosha cancellation (Manglik Dosh Bhang)

Manglik Dosha can be cancelled (Dosh Bhang) in several genuine ways: when both partners are Manglik the doshas neutralise each other; when Mars is in its own sign (Aries, Scorpio) or exalted (Capricorn); when a benefic like Jupiter aspects Mars; or when Mars sits in specific signs per house. A real astrologer weighs these before declaring a match unsafe.

Remedies for Manglik Dosha

Worship Lord Hanuman and recite the Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays.

Chant the Mangal mantra 'Om Angarakaya Namah' and observe Tuesday fasts.

Perform Kumbh Vivah or a Mangal Shanti puja in strong cases before marriage.

Donate red lentils (masoor dal), red cloth or jaggery on Tuesdays.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check Manglik Dosha by date of birth?

Calculate your birth chart from your exact date, time and place of birth, then find the house Mars occupies from the ascendant, Moon and Venus. If Mars sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house, Manglik Dosha is present. The calculator above lets you test any Mars house instantly.

Does Manglik Dosha get cancelled after 28 years?

The intensity of Manglik Dosha is widely believed to reduce considerably after the age of 28, and many astrologers consider it largely neutralised by then, especially when other cancellation factors are present in the chart.

Can a Manglik marry a non-Manglik?

Yes, but it requires careful chart analysis. The dosha can be balanced through cancellation factors, remedies like Hanuman worship and Mangal Shanti puja, or by matching two Manglik charts so the doshas neutralise each other.

What houses make a person Manglik?

Mars in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the ascendant (and from the Moon and Venus) makes a person Manglik. The 1st and 7th placements are considered the strongest.

Is Manglik Dosha real and how serious is it?

Manglik Dosha is a traditional Vedic concept about Mars' influence on marriage and temperament. Its seriousness depends on Mars' strength, sign, aspects and the presence of cancellation factors — it is rarely as absolute as folk belief suggests.
